Pasminco Operations Make A Smooth Transition
Pasminco mining and smelting operations are operating at anticipated production levels following the transition to the Year 2000.
During the first hours of the new year, all sites maintained a close watch on safety and environmental systems, production and information technology facilities and essential services including gas, electricity and water supplies. No reports of any incident related to the Y2K transition have been received.
Executive General Manager Exploration and Technology Tom Eadie said Pasminco had been working since 1997 to systematically reduce the likelihood of a Y2K event impacting on Pasminco employees, operations and equipment at the critical period over the New Year.
“Many people have contributed an enormous amount of time and energy during this period and they can all be very satisfied with this result,” Mr Eadie said.
